Catharsis: A mask with a serene expression covering his face, black "straps" moving towards the back of his head where they entangle and spread down the back of his head and neck. His weapon is a rapier.
Appearance: Shortish black hair, dark brown eyes, pale complexion. His appearance is also the same in the real world as in mobius because fuck you he looks fine why would that change???
Background: Shin comes from a once wealthy family whose riches were squandered mostly on bad gambling habits, debts that needed to be paid, and some other things Shin couldn't find out on his own, no matter how much he poked around. His family is in constant debt, borrowing money from friends and family still well off in order to stay afloat and keep up the appearances of a family who has everything.
Shin tries his best to keep on his own appearances as well. Something in his life that he actually has control over is how people perceive him, so he clings to that. In fact, he works harder to maintain a certain façade than he does on his studies. Every strand of hair must be in place, every color he picks carefully conveys the mood he wants other people to associate with him, and even the way he gestures and speaks. He'll play to a crowd or try to play a crowd because he can. And while his life around him crumbles he can still keep to his little controlled bubble where everything reacts the way he wants, and he's determined to find a way to twist this talent into something that can work for him in the long run.
His obsession with control is very specific. He seeks to control the perceptions of others through deceit, whether it be perception of him or perception of a situation. Even in his photography, his hobby, does he frame his shots in such a way to be misleading. He'll take pictures of a beautiful flower, leaving the viewer to believe he visited a lovely garden to do it, yet just out of frame is a pile of garbage littering the area, or a swarm of ants converging on a piece of rotten fruit. He's infatuated with the idea of what you can't see, or what he's hiding, just out of vision, and the same goes for his personality as well.
One of his favorite pastimes, however, is pretending to be the perfect friend.
